Self Defence of Body and Mind

Kateda originated from South East Asia around three thousand years ago and was one of many knowledge’s that existed at that time. This knowledge was used for one’s self-protection against the harsh environment and also a basic training for maintaining a natural and healthy lifestyle.

In today’s society Kateda is now needed to protect one’s Body and Mind from some of the negative influences that exist within our communities/societies, such as drugs, alcohol, crime and violence to name a few.

There are three main aspects to the Kateda training programme, Physical fitness, Self Defence and Central Power. These are used to improve mind strength, respiratory and nervous systems, co-ordination, balance and instincts; work all voluntary/in-voluntary, internal/external muscle groups; all necessary requirements for the basic training of Kateda self-defence. They will produce the positive side effects of increased stamina, relaxation and simultaneously reduce overweight and stress without the use of any drug.

In the beginner stages of Kateda Self Defence of Body and Mind, intensive guidance will be given throughout the training programme by Kateda qualified Instructors and Masters. Students will learn basic movements of warming up for the intensive training of accuracy in punching and kicking for practical self defence. Students will then carry on to learn steps of Self Defence, also important for the further advancement in the future when learning how to deliver and maintain Central Power when combined with the steps.

The discovery, of Central Power through our unique breathing exercises includes the art of self defence and control of the internal muscles, which develops self confidence, self control, self discipline, awareness and concentration, all necessary requirements for a more productive life.

Within the self defence classes are the methods of testing the delivery of Central Power through the body’s nervous system. Some of these testing methods are:

  • For men, to break bricks hit onto the stomach;
  • For women, to kick and break bricks with the sides of the feet.

  • Receiving punches delivered to the solarplexus;

  • Withstanding strangulation;

  • Punching iron plate;

All without suffering pain or injury.

These abilities can only be achieved by the intensive training in self-discipline, self control and mind concentration. Fighting plays no part in Kateda Self Defence. The aim is for the individual to develop a peaceful mentality over one’s anger and aggression. Only once this has been achieved and approved by the Masters, one is permitted to combine Central Power ability with Self Defence movements. The primary concern of Kateda Self Defence is the discovery, development and maintenance of Central Power for a Healthy Mind and Body.
